IRC-Bulgaria organized a thematic meeting on Energy Efficiency and Technology Renovation in Industry. The event took place in Plovdiv, February 10, 2005. Discussions during the meeting coverеd topics such as energy efficiency, technology renovation and energy management at company level. Good practices for raising the energy efficiency in the industry were presented to the participants.
The organization of the meeting was supported by ARC Fund – the host organization of IRC-Bulgaria, together with the Bulgarian Industrial Association, Bulgarian Academy of Science, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Energy Efficiency Agencyand other specialized organizations active in this sector.
The agenda was focused on the problems of the legal and regulatory farmework, fudning opportunities and energy saving technologies.
In addition to the traditional thematic meetings organized so far, the event also featured a special module dedicated to “Innovation for the Business” – a new joint initiative of IRC-Bulgaria, Management System International (USAID) , and GIS Transfer Centre Foundation. The aim of the meeting was to stimulate the interaction between the Bulgarian universities and the industry by transfer of new scientific results in the production thus enabling the collaboration between the two parties, increasing competitiveness of the Bulgarian industry and science, and stimulating the “export” of new Bulgarian products with higher added value. The module provided opportunities for IRC-Bulgaria to obtain new contacts and expand the number of IRC customers, and helped for better understanding of the problems in the particular sector. The IRC-Bulgaria experts took the opportunity to schedule company visits or technology audits in the organizations participating in the event. After obtaining detailed information on their technology demands and needs, IRC experts are going to prepare technology offers/requests to be disseminated through the IRC network. This would facilitate the participant organizations in presenting their products to European partners and would lay the ground for future technology transfers.
