Training of teachers and pupils in the city of Varna

On March 4-5, a training team of the National Safer Internet Centre visited the city of Varna on the invitation of the Municipality’s Directorates for Prevention and Education and conducted a two-day training of pedagogical councilors from 20 schools in the city.

The school councilors were explained and demonstrated the methodology used by the SIC in the “Virtual and Real Violence Prevention” educational course for secondary schools implemented in 20 schools in Sofia. The possibilities and the ways to conduct the course in the schools in Varna were discussed with the participation of representatives of the municipality.

On March 5, SIC experts met the municipal Peer Group consisting of pupils aged 15 to 18 years trained in peer-to-peer education methods. The children were presented the “Think Be4 U Post” campaign and participated in a discussion about online risks connected to content uploaded by children. The deficiencies of the social networking sites were discussed and the pupils volunteered to present the problems to their peers.

The Varna Municipality representatives said they are going to organize a second training for representatives of the other schools in the city before the end of May.
