Treasure hunt at school with mothers and fathers

In February the third graders from the 26th school in Sofia, together with their daddies, mommies, grannies and siblings celebrated SID trying to figure out the key to the infinite possibilities of the Internet in a very competitive treasure hunt game.

The event was organized by the pupils from the child panel of the Safer Internet Centre (SIC) coordinated by ARC Fund with the support of their teacher Silvia Petrova, the school counselor Genadiy Matveev and the school principal Elka Velkova, and it was led by the moderators of the child panel Luiza Shahbazyan and Antoaneta Kumanova from SIC. The pupils prepared in advance special invitations for their families.

The game began after classes, so that parents can finish work and arrive comfortably. Parents and children formed 10 teams and each team received its unique map with marks for finding 7 hidden in various places in the school – in classrooms, in the hallways, even in the toilets.

The questions were in the form of riddles whose first letters formed the password for accessing the treasure. Each team was allowed one hint to help them answer the question – the hind was given by children’s favourite hero Flashboy.

Excited children, fathers and mothers, grandparents, younger and older brothers and sisters were running around the corridors of the school, sought out rooms to find hidden questions. After heated debates over online security, safety and responsible behavior, one of the teams managed to answer correctly all questions and unlocked the treasure. They were loudly applauded by all participants.

The winning families got the championship cup for best performing “Safer Internet” team.
