Children and internet

ARC Fund has been the coordinator of the Bulgarian Safer Internet Center since its establishment in 2005. The Centre works for the protection and empowerment of children and young people on the Internet by raising awareness, training (children, parents and professionals), consultations (Helpline) and monitoring and reporting online sexual abuse and exploitation of minors (Hotline).

The National Center for Safe Internet participates in the creation of the Coalition for the Development of Media Literacy of Bulgarian Children

National survey “Are children born in the digital age digitally literate?”

Applied Research and Communications Fund, coordinator of the National Centre for Safe Internet, presents a nationally representative survey on the topic “Are children born in the digital age digitally literate?”. It was conducted by Market Links Agency among Bulgarian children aged 9 to 17 and their parents. The survey report uses the results of the 2016 national representative survey and compares them with the 2010 data where applicable. Conference on digital and media literacy took place in Sofia

A conference on early childhood development of digital and media literacy took place on 30th of May in Sofia. The conference was organized by the Applied Research and Communications Fund (ARC Fund), coordinator of Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre. Are children born in the digital age digitally literate?

At the end of 2016, Market Links conducted a nationally representative survey commissioned by the ARC Fund among Bulgarian children aged 9 to 17 and their parents.
One of the main focuses of the survey was to find out the level of digital-media literacy among children and how their parents and the education system help develop their skills in this area.

Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre is building a cyberscouts network

The Bulgarian Safer Internet Centre at the Applied Research and Communications Fund has started its new educational campaign “Cyberscout.” With the financial support of Telenor Bulgaria and in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, students from five Bulgarian towns participate in two-day trainings on online safety. In April, the first two Cyberscout groups were trained. Each consisted of 25 students from the fifth and sixth grades. All participants received certificates and Cyberscout badges.
