Science and society

The Applied Research and Communications Fund facilitates public, multi-actor deliberative processes on societal challenges stemming from research and innovation. Responsible research and innovation are closely linked to sustainable development and thus represent a horizontal topic in the research studies conducted by ARC Fund. Focal areas of our research are energy transition, energy citizenship and renewable energy, access of vulnerable societal groups to the labor market, public engagement in policy design, technology assessment of the impact of new technology on society, economy and environment, as well as workplace innovations and public-sector innovations.

International experts prepared recommendations to support social, sustainable and frugal innovation in the Black Sea region

In the beginning of November 2017 the Applied Research and Communications Fund organised in Sofia an international workshop “Promotion of Social, Sustainable and Frugal Innovation in the Black Sea Region”. The workshop was organised as part of the “Black Sea Horizon” project in which ARC Fund is a partner, and which is financed under the EU Framework Programme for research and innovation Horizon 2020. Participants in the workshop were social entrepreneurs, representatives of companies, civil society organisations and universities from Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany...

Science meets regions conference in Gabrovo

On the 16th of November, 2017 the city of Gabrovo, Bulgaria hosted the conference “Science meets parliaments and regions”. The event gathered representatives from the local authorities of North central region of Bulgaria, educational institutions – schools, universities and the Bulgarian academy of science. The forum was focused on discussion of successful models and practices and finding of tailor -made decisions in favour of intelligent specialization.
