We present to you the winners and finalists of the Innovative Enterprise Competition of 2022.
Seven innovative companies are the big winners in the individual categories, which are as follows:
Market Leadership in 2022 – an honorary statuette and diploma
MYX AD (www.myxrobotics.com) is a software company with complete solutions for creating precise “3D digital twins” of physical objects obtained by combining data from drones, LiDAR systems, cameras and smartphones. Large volumes of primary data are processed with the company’s algorithms and the use of artificial intelligence to extract detailed information. Users include the largest European and US telecom infrastructure companies as well as the world’s leading telecom antenna manufacturers. The solution is applicable for building “smart cities.”
Green Innovation in 2022 – an honorary statuette and diploma
New Energy Corporation Ltd. (www.newenergycorp.eu) offers an innovative particulate filter recycling process designed for business users – repair shops and official importers of diesel cars, trucks, construction and other equipment. The solution is characterized by using only oxy-hydrogen, short duration and low power consumption. In Bulgaria, the service is provided in partnership with major vehicle and machinery importers, and in Austria on the basis of a licensing agreement. The company is also developing other oxy-hydrogen based innovations.
Quality of Life in 2022 – an honorary diploma
Ted Bed AD (https://ted.bg) is a leading manufacturer of mattresses and products for a good night’s sleep. It creates innovations for extended life use and healthier mattresses. NORD STAR combines mattresses and toppers into a hybrid product with customized comfort, firmness, height, and easy core change according to the customer’s age and weight changes. Materra and Amber mattresses have patented anti-geopathogenic technology to aid cell balance and reduce stress and insomnia.
Innovation in Creative Industries 2022 – an honorary diploma
Niki Rotor Aviation Ltd. (www.nikiaviation.com) has created the Lightning autogyro, having an innovative design with a tail that extends out from the propeller axis. The device combines the advantages of an aeroplane and a helicopter, being able to use a short runway. It is a more economical and affordable option compared to both aircraft and guarantees the safest flying (including trouble-free landing in case of engine failure in the air). The company is also the creator of other models of autogyros, which it markets in Europe, North America, Africa, Australia.
Digital Transformation in 2022 – an honorary diploma
Agrovar Ltd (www.agrovar.bg) creates artificial intelligence-based software that processes over 2 million data points about each agricultural field and its climate, soil and operational data. Agrovar builds on Cornell University’s baseline soil health assessment by adding additional analytical information. It contains precise recommendations for cover crops and regenerative practices for specific soil problems without heavy tillage and chemical inputs.
Social Innovation in 2022 – an honorary diploma
Bulbera Ltd. (https://www.bulbera.com) created the JoinedInCare online platform with information designed for older people, people with disabilities or dementia, their relatives, carers and those working in the social care sector. It provides the opportunity to find care options – specific care homes or home assistant agencies – to learn about different technologies in order to help those in need, to find appropriate entertainment, and more. There is a rating system for consumers to rate the organizations involved. The platform is multilingual with content adapted for each country.
Innovative Startup in 2022 – an honorary diploma
ICB – M Ltd. (www.holoma.info) is developing the Holoma software solution for orthopedic navigation using mixed reality. Holographic 3D models of bones, joints and implants are precisely positioned on the actual geometry of the patient’s organs using Microsoft Hololens 2 glasses. The solution helps surgeons during surgery by navigating their actions. It is used in 2 clinics in the country, in Switzerland and in pilot operations in the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and Mexico.
All finalists in the National Contest awarded the Excellence in Innovation label in 2022 are as follows:
Biopharma Laboratories Ltd. (www.bravenewhair.bg): a manufacturer of high-quality hair cosmetics. The company develops proprietary formulas to replace the non-degradable ingredients of silicones with natural substitutes, based on a biocatalytic enzymatic process. The LIQUID LIGHT hair oil is a highly effective alternative to silicone oils, that has a nourishing effect and degrades in nature within 20 days. The company is also the first Bulgarian representative in the Walk of Fame of the world’s largest exhibition for the beauty industry – Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna.
Green Innovations AD (www.green-innovation.bg) is developing hydrogen technologies – electrolyzers with over 85% efficiency, applicable to all combustion processes with conventional fuels. The company is the first manufacturer of electrolyzers in Eastern and Central Europe, has 55 projects locally and abroad for hybrid heating of public buildings, production of pure hydrogen and high-energy mixture of hydrogen and oxygen for industrial needs. Green Innovations has also implemented a pilot project with a school in Bulgaria to combine a solar system with an electrolyzer.
Decor Design Ltd. (www.decordesign.bg) designed a new planetarium, part of the scientific children’s complex on the territory of the Port of Burgas. The building is a spherical body with an enclosing ring (like a planet), which serves both as a periphery and a canopy over the entrance and the walkway, accessible to people with disabilities. The auditorium has 50 seats, arranged radially around the center of the projection dome for optimal viewing angle. The terrain around the building is modelled with gradual lifts, forming ‘mounds’ with the effect of a ground surface displaced by the ‘landing’ of the sphere.
Decibel AD (www.decibel.bg) works in the field of noise insulation materials and noise control systems. The team designs its solutions for clients worldwide in residential buildings, offices, hotels, recording studios, industrial premises. The company created the world’s first non-combustible, 100% biodegradable, heat and noise insulation acoustic product for exterior and interior use that is also antibacterial. In addition to being environmentally friendly, SiBo panels enrich the soil when disposed of. There is interest in the product from several investment funds in the USA, Germany and Bulgaria.
Digamont Ltd. (www.digamont.com) is a start-up company that creates a personal and family financial well-being planning software product – ViziWealth. The app uses open banking and links the whole family’s goals, financial situation and overall planning to achieve greater wellbeing. The platform also acts as a digital hub for expert services to facilitate decision-making leading to desired success.
DigiTech Consult Ltd. (www.digitechconsult.com) works in the implementation of software robots that mimic human actions in the exercise of processes and transactions, down to the smallest detail. The company is creating a conversational AI application with virtual assistants for a variety of information systems that optimize processes and increase their efficiency by up to 70%, while reducing the probability of errors by up to 80%. The company’s customers are based in Dubai, China, USA, India, Romania, Germany, Luxembourg, etc. and over 50 working languages are supported.
Elca.bg Ltd. (www.elca.bg) is a start-up company that has developed and is still advancing a digital platform of the same name that assists business consumers in their choice of suppliers and traders on the liberalized electricity market in Bulgaria. The platform gathers all the necessary information for comparing offers in one place, working with all electricity traders to optimize costs and switch suppliers, based on a proprietary algorithm. Elca.bg’s customers are business and public sector users, including hospitals, schools and kindergartens.
Mellifera AD (www.melligel.com) created a bio energy gel – MelliGEL – designed for athletes in various disciplines that require endurance, as well as for users of all ages active in other fields. The product contains 100% organic certified raw ingredients – mainly honey, but also freeze-dried fruits or other superfoods, herbal extracts and Himalayan salt. It comes in a variety of flavors such as strawberry, raspberry, spirulina, ginger and cherry, cocoa and mint, and matcha and guarana. It is easily absorbed by the body and has an immune-stimulating effect.
Modern Woman Media Ltd. (www.malkisakrovishta.bg) is a start-up company, creator of the first online platform in Bulgaria “Little Treasures”, connecting parents who have children’s clothes, shoes, toys, books and other products, with parents who are looking to buy used but preserved children’s goods. The platform is entirely focused on children’s assortments and helps people who want to quickly and easily purchase everything they need for their child at an affordable price and in an environmentally friendly way.
Money Making Moms Ltd. (www.dentallollipop.com) is developing a recipe for a lollipop that is good for children’s teeth – under the brand Dr. Cveti Dental Lollypop. The product contains no sugar and acids that cause tooth decay, using instead only natural flavors and a sugar substitute. It also does not impact one’s glycemic status. Its specially designed shape is flat and heart-shaped, it does not strain the musculature in the mouth and does not pinch the tissues between the cheek and teeth. The lollipop comes individually wrapped in two flavors – strawberry and orange.
Predistic Ltd. (https://iot.predistic.com) is developing the AIME platform for creating applications in the field of Internet of Things (IoT). It enables IoT product manufacturers to use cost-effective, low-power hardware to build their functional and secure IoT systems and devices, significantly reducing the cost and time to market. The solution can be applied in a number of areas such as building automation, smart cities (transportation, lighting, garbage collection), smart agriculture, Industry 4.0, telecommunications, logistics and more.
Robo Weeder Ltd. (www.smartfarmrobotix.eu) is creating an autonomous robot for precise and fully autonomous weed removal in perennial crop fields – under the Smart Farm Robotics brand. It uses solar power, has sensors for positioning and orientation in and around fields, to distinguish cultivated plants from weeds and to read other useful indicators such as sunshine, soil moisture, etc. Its construction is lightweight and it is powered by 4×4 electric motors. The robot can connect to a cloud database to transfer the collected information and receive specific instructions.
SoCyber Ltd. (https://so-cyber.com) is a company working in the field of cyber security and the creator of the software solution “Kikimora”. The data obtained through it presents a clear picture of the most critical vulnerabilities and the methods to eliminate them. The information is available to both the IT departments of client companies and their management levels. The company has successfully developed in the Bulgarian and international market with clients in the banking, financial, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, pension funds and healthcare institutions storing a large volume of personal information.
STS Pack Holding Ltd. (www.stspackbg.com) is developing a new method for the recovery of industrial waste (plastic) by transforming it into new types of products such as spare parts for production, gripping and transporting devices, robots, transport boxes, models of orthopedic prostheses, vessels, cladding tiles, etc. based on 3D-printing. The method facilitates the shift from linear to circular production processes and produces zero industrial waste.
Tendrik Ltd. (https://seomax.bg/) is the creator of the online graphic design platform Design Expert, through which an unlimited number of individual graphic designs can be ordered and created according to the criteria set by the clients, such as colors, messages, fonts, formats and desired elements. The company’s experienced graphic designers accept the request and send proposals to the client within 24 or 48 hours. To date, over 5,000 orders have been successfully completed through the platform.
Theoremus Ltd. (https://theoremus.com/) is the creator of a smart waste management system that combines the hardware and software required for the monitoring and automation of waste collection activities with modules for analysis and optimization of these activities. The solution, which allows direct measurement of the weight and volume of waste in containers, has been implemented in the municipalities of Montana, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin and others. It also allows the calculation of the waste generated by a building/building/household.
Tube Plant Ltd. (https://cvetevepruvetka.store/) is creating a flower that is grown for a minimum of 2 months, without any care, in a tube sealed with foil and containing a nutrient medium. Once this is exhausted or the tube is filled by the plant, it is potted. The flower in a tube is available on its own or together with a special stand made of wood or biodegradable plastic. On each package there is a QR code leading to information about the plant and its cultivation, and subsequent repotting.
The national Innovative Enterprise of the Year competition is recognised by the European Commission as a national best practice for promoting innovative business development.
