Bulgarian Patent Office together with the World Intellectual Property Organization organizes a national seminar on “Strategic use of the Madrid system for business development”, which will be held on 9-10 November 2011 in Sofia.
The seminar aims to raise awareness and give practical knowledge on the Madrid system among interested business circles and manufacturers, who already use or will use in the future international system for registration of trademarks. This system allows for protection of the brand in many countries by filing only one application for registration. By acquiring the protection of the mark in other countries – one of the mandatory conditions that each company must meet to make sure its presence at the market, the business ensures its successful export of goods and trust of customers.
During the seminar the new procedure for obtaining protection of brands in Bulgaria will be presented, which has been introduced by the amendments to the Law on Marks and Geographical Indications this year.
Topics to be discussed during the seminar will be presented by leading experts in the field of trademarks in the WIPO Patent Office of Bulgaria and will enable the private sector to learn about opportunities available to protect their industrial property rights worldwide. Representatives of the private sector in Bulgaria will share their experiences of using the Madrid system.
