FutureFood6 national workshop

On June 20th, 2008, ARC Fund organized a national workshop within the initiative FutureFood6 for presenting the results from the interviews and the responses to the on-line questionnaire completed by more than 150 experts throughout Bulgaria. The survey aimed at assessing the current state in the area of food quality and safety focusing on regulatory, infrastructural and awareness aspects, as well as at outlining the future impact of 28 selected key technologies on the future development of quality and safety of food products up to year 2020. During the event four visions on desired and feasible development of the agri-food industry in Central and Southeast Europe concerning food quality and safety were presented and further discussed. The participants in the national workshop representated the food industry, public administration, science and technology, academia, branch associations and media.

The FutureFood6 initiative on “Healthy and Safe Food for the Future – A Technology Foresight Project in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia” is carried out within the Sixth Framework Programme of EC since February 1st, 2007 with duration of 24 months. The project is coordinated by UNIDO and is implemented in partnership with organizations from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.

The FutureFood6 project’s activities are focused on agri-food industry and the food quality and safety aspect throughout the entire production chain. The main objective is to foster the adoption of new management practices, technologies and business models for the establishment of international food quality and safety platform for the Central and Southeastern European countries.
