On 11 September, the Coalition for the Development of Media Literacy of Bulgarian Children was established on the initiative of the Center for Safe Internet and the Center for Culture and Debate “The Red House” with the participation of the Institute for Progressive Education, the Center for Inclusive Education, the Association of European Journalists in Bulgaria, Together in Class (Zaedno v chas), the National Network for Children, Education Bulgaria 2030, the Voice of the Children Foundation.
The aim of the Coalition is to stimulate public debate on the topic, but also to gather and promote good practices of individual schools, teachers, educational institutions, organizations and media aimed at building basic digital-media skills in children from 1 to 4 grade. These skills should become the foundation on which further education can build so that students leave secondary education with sufficient media literacy to engage in the economy and socio-political processes as successful and active citizens.
The Coalition is open and invites all organizations and individuals who support its mission to join.
