On 10 and 11 May, the sixth edition of Innovation Academy – Student Innovation Hackathon will take place in Sofia, at the club “Feather”. They will have the opportunity to develop and present their ideas on five current topics.
Dr. Todor Galev, Senior Expert at the Applied Research and Communications Fund, will mentor several of the teams. The Foundation is a partner of the event for the second consecutive year.
The two-day event, with elements of a hackathon, is organized by the innovation agency Innovation Starter, with the institutional support of the European Commission in Bulgaria, with the general support of the European Investment Bank and Progress, in partnership with Paggas Technologies, Nestle Bulgaria and Coca-Cola Bulgaria.
In 2019 students from New Bulgarian University (NBU), Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski (SU), Technical University of Sofia (TU Sofia), University of National and World Economy (UNWE), American University Blagoevgrad (AUB), Software University (SoftUni), Higher School of Insurance and Finance (VUZF), Technical University Gabrovo (TU Gabrovo), Higher Forestry University (VLTU) and other universities in the country.
On May 10, the competition for creative ideas of students to change the environment in Bulgaria for the better starts. During the first day there will be interesting lectures by various experts.
At 14:00 on 11 May the jurying begins. A jury will choose the winner, who will win BGN 10 000 and a trip to Brussels, provided with the support of the European Investment Bank, the European Commission and the technology company Progress. Two more ideas will be awarded with special prizes and cash prizes from partners of the event.
